Scope and content

At one time you could not only see across the ford in Cheyne Lane going across the Highmore brook (now wrongly referred to as the Shill Brook) but you could have driven across it. Gerald Read has planed trees across the old highway and put razor wire around the area which is most unfortunate for Bampton's historical 'salt route' way from Droitwich to the Thames. In one photograph you can see the barn being converted in which Gerald now lives with his wife Madeleine.
