About Us

The Bampton Archive is a community-led project of volunteers who are working to preserve the history of this Oxfordshire village.

Through the making of historical audio and video recordings to holding regular exhibitions on topics relating to the history of, and life in, the village, the project is creating an enduring record of the history of the village for future generations.

The actual archive you are accessing here is an extensive collection of multimedia items relating to the village dating back to Roman times. It is carefully maintained and curated by the community archivist who regularly updates it with new material relating to the village along with historical items that have been donated.

We hope you enjoy browsing our archive. Please please get in touch if you have any feedback or if you have anything Bamptonian that you think should be included - we’d love to hear from you.
