Scope and content

These pictures are nearly all of the outside of the farmhouse. You can see quite clearly where the once open carriage entrance has been filled in and the kitchen, dining room, sitting room and hallway have been created. There is a clear slot that looks as if it should have been for pouring nasty 'stuff' on to unwelcome visitors but it must be purely for show because Michael could find nowhere inside where it could have been used. The turret walling was only ever for show and the arrow slits, now with glass in them were probably also just for show. The big bay window area is a Victorian addition to the original building. Michael, helped by sister Susan were working very hard to prepare everything ready for the auction in 5 days' time and I didn't exactly get them in their Sunday best but clearing out is a filthy job. The walls of the original building are nearly a metre thick. The red tiled roof is over the kitchen. The marquee was set up ready for the auction. I would like to record my thanks to Michael for allowing me free access, inside and outside his home and farm buildings to document it as it was in September 2010.
