March 12th 1923 the building in the Market Square which had been The Bell Inn was purchased by three ladies.

Indenture papers. Page 1. Between Eleanor Catherine Rose who sold the building which was to become the WI Hall (now called the Village Hall) to the trustees who were The Lady Victoria Alexandrina Forester of Weald Manor, Anna Lucy Bliss of Bampton House and Edith Mary Cobb. Date of indenture was March 12th 1923.

The three trustees of the WI The Lady Victoria Alexandrina Forester (Weald Manor), Anna Lucy Bliss (Bampton House) and Edith Mary Cobb were to buy the property in the Market Square that was the Bell Inn from Eleanor Catherine Rose for £150 on behalf of Bampton WI. Nathaniel George Harris was living in the premises.
