These pages are a few taken from the ledger of a Bampton tradesman in 1952 - 1953. Clearly written by two people, the writing is beautiful and so easy to read (where it was scanned properly!). He did work not only in Bampton but also in Witney, here for Henry Long & Sons and in Oxford, for Morrells Brewery and Lion Brewery. Mr Tongue of Thompson stores is now The Romany Inn in Bridge St Bampton; Mrs Bliss lived at Bampton House in Bushey Row; Central Garage is by the roundabout and is now Abbey Properties. Mr Bosley of Lower Haddon farm; Garnes brewery in Burford; Mr Hook's farm at Cote; Mr Wright was at The Talbot; Midland Bank Witney is now HSBC; Mrs Hampton of Gate Cottage; Morland brewery in Abingdon;
