Scope and content

In 2011 Janet Rouse spent an afternoon talking with Rose Gerring. Rose lived at Sandford House, Church View. She was a widow who had been married to Arthur since soon after WWII ended. She talked about many people and these are notes of that conversation. The include the Busby family who had land just out of Bampton down the Buckland road but milked next to Sandford House, Robey, Richens, Wilkins and Harry Gerring who all sold milk in Bampton, plus Ogilvie, Wilkins up Mount Owen and John Henly who never had dairy cows. Perky Radband married Flo. Rose Gerring's grandmother and then mother owned and ran The Swan Inn in Buckland Road. Field Cottage on the edge of Sandford field was built for the school master of the National School in Church View but he never lived in it.
