Scope and content

Wenman's the bakers with the bay window and closest Mrs Ward's cottage closest - she sold cooked fish on Saturdays - closest. The pretty card is a view of Cheapside and the southern end of Broad Street before 1907. Note the thatched cottages where the three Eton Villas now stand. The George and Dragon, Goodmans the tea dealers and the large ash tree next to the cottages which became The Lamb can all be seen. The second picture is a larger version of the picture in the card with a little more of the original visible on the left and right.
