Scope and content

Colin Rouse told me:-
"The chap helping me carry the sack is Pete Webb, Brian Webb’s brother. They owned a thrashing machine between them but they never got round to finishing the rick. This was such a shame because it was a bumper crop of thatching straw. I don’t think they could get enough help to finish the thrashing and ended up selling the thrashing machine. So the rick stood there in what we call the Baughan’s Field until the late spring hence the large amount of rats.
I am afraid in the other photo, the camera does lie. I didn’t kill any of the rats, but I was persuaded to pose for the photo. I will never be able to convince people that I love animals."
Baughan's field is the second field on the right going down Gogg Lane off the Bampton to Aston Road.
