Scope and content

At Whitsun 1970 the school in Bampton opened its own swimming pool after much fund raising and a lot of hard work by many local people. In the column in the Witney Gazette which recalls events in times past, in March 2016 it reprinted a piece from 1970. The following week Alan Barker from Bampton pointed out a glaringly incorrect statement in the old item, ie far more than three people built the pool. Many parents helped as did service personnel whose children attended the school; Don Rouse dug out the area with the aid of banksmen and Ray and Harry Green did the blockwork.
