On a lovely sunny November day in 2006 a group of Steam Engine enthusiasts stopped off in Bampton, Bridge Street to partake of some refreshment.
In 2019 John Wharton told me ...
"The steam engines were taking part in the Remembrance Road Run organised by the Society of Drivers and Engine Men. Pictured engines include my own Burrell showman's engine "King George VI" (with "The Coronation Speedway" sign written on the awning sides), Tim and David Tomlins' Burrell road locomotive "Lord Nelson" and Tasker tractor "Jolly" (from Bampton), John Watkins's Aveling & Porter steam roller (from near Chipping Norton) and travelling 100 miles to the event was the Dovey's Foden steam wagon.(2019) the run commences from the Trout at Lechlade - the route yet to be decided.
