This wonderful photograph was taken in the flood on Whit Monday May 16th 1932. Alec Townsend from Castle View Farm is on the left in the water, 'Buscot' Tanner in the barrow (with mustache) along with Mr & Mrs Tanner. Son Townsend on the right in the water. Ted Kitchen (lived in the house on the angle going into Mill Green from the bridges) and Tom Smith are standing by the door into the Elephant & Castle. Floods at Whitsuntide were common.
