He was known locally as Bill but his name was Thomas Peter Govier. Bill played an active part in Bampton life in the Pumpkin Club, maintaining the war graves from 1955, composing the crossword in The Beam for many years and he showed his fun side by adding to the road sign near his bungalow for April 1st, April Fools' Day as seen in the four photographs
