Scope and content

Alan originally was the licensee of the George & Dragon and then took on the Horse Shoe, putting a tenant in to the George & Dragon, but that was not successful and in the end, the brewery close it and kept the Horse Shoe. Anyone walking past in the morning would see Alan sitting in the window reading the daily paper. He was always willing to help with Bampton events and things, such as selling the Mel Starr books which raised funds for the Archive and the Bampton Traditional Morris Men used the pub as their headquarters. His death was a great shock aged just 60.
The newspaper cutting gives you far more information about Alan.
