Lance Corporal Herbert Lock: B Coy 44th Bn. Canadian Infantry, New Brunswick. He died aged 30 on November 1st 1918. He was the son of Mr & Mrs W Lock of the Market Place in Bampton.

a262 - The cottage called Aulnoy after a cemetery in France WW1 where Herbert Lock was buried. This cottage was lived in by Herbert Lock's widow until she died. It was demolished in February 2004 soon after this photograph was taken. On was on the road out of Bampton towards Clanfield; there used to be two bungalows on the right and Aulnoy was the one nearer to Bampton.
