Scope and content

The black and white picture was taken in the first half of the twentieth century and the colour one in September 2010 just 6 days before the property was sold by Jesus College Oxford. The pillar was once part of the open gateway to the inner courtyard of Ham Court but probably in the late eighteenth century the two archways which formed the gateway were filled in. The depth of space created afforded two rooms which latterly have been a sitting room and a dining room. These pictures are taken standing in the dining room.
