Scope and content

This old photograph shows the shop of Clark & Son on the south side of High Street and the part of the shop of I E Busby that is at the south end of Bushey Row on the east side. Busby's shop also included what today (2017) is called Strawberry Cottage and Lesta House and sold most things that local would need to wear and furnish their homes. The blinds are pulled down to protect the items in the windows from the bright sunshine both across the road in Bushey Row and on the very left in the picture.
