Scope and content
By tradition the Bampton Morris dancers dance in Bampton on only one day a year. That used to be Whit Monday but when the government made the last Monday in May the bank holiday, which may or may not be Whit Monday the day of dance has stayed the last Monday in May.
However, they dance at many other events and venues through the summer and sometimes indoors in the winter and these pictures were taken in July 1984 when Francis Shergold's side, the Bampton Traditional Morris Men, danced in Witney.
