Scope and content

This is a view of Broad Street looking to the North.
The young trees on the left were a gift for the village from George Gerring. The trees that had been there were in a dangerous state and had been removed.
There are gas lights on the left, a recent addition to Bampton.
The gateway into Bampton Manor can be seen on the turning into the south side of Landells off Broad Street. A some point since then the gateway has been moved along to about the middle of the wall between both parts of Landells along Broad Street.
The Plough Inn can be seen on the right.
Note how it was normal for bedroom windows to be opened wide to air the rooms each day.
