Scope and content

In 2007 Doug Read helped the Archive make a film to explain the essence of High Cut Ploughing which today, is done at Ploughing Matches. It used to be done with horses and then little tractors and the high cut with clean sides meant the broadcast seeds would fall to the bottom of the trench and then the whole would be harrowed going across the line of the ploughing. You can see the film on YouTube at
Doug was made an OBE for his services to ploughing.
