Scope and content

This picture of The Grange in the High Street was taken in 1997 when it still had the beautiful wrought iron gates. Locals were saddened when they were replaced with solid wooden gates, which, while affording greater privacy to the owners made it look more like a prison from the outside. In the late nineteenth century it was three dwellings, which were later made into the one that exists today. There is a large area of land behind the house with tennis courts, swimming pool, lawns, paddocks and a lake and the Shill brook runs through part of it.
