Private William Johnson fought in WWI in the 5th Ox and Bucks Light Infantry. He was mentioned in the Supplement to The London Gazette October 27th 1916 for his bravery when attempting to rescue Lt Wood in broad daylight. His granddaughter has written an account of his life which is included in the pdf.
