In 1943 Reg Rouse came to Bampton with his family. He had been George Collins' farm manager in Wiltshire and when George and family bought Weald Farm, Reg and family moved with him. On February 1st 1948 Reg bought a small holding and over the years bought several more fields and finally Backhouse Farm and at that point became self employed. A few years late he bought University farm in Lew and eventually he and his three sons, Terry, Don and Colin farmed 500 acres. This newspaper cutting tells you far more.
