Scope and content

The daughter of Mr & Mrs Albert Tanner kindly sent these photographs to the Archive and I'm sorry I don't know her name - if you do please contact the Archive via the link on the front page (click on the banner Bampton Community Archive top left and the link is in the text under the picture.) The fire appliance was hand pumped in those days and very hard work. It was pulled to fires by horse. The firemen had to borrow horses and they were mostly from Constables the bakers and Wenmans the bakers both in the Market Square. Wenmans was pulled down to make way for the War Memorial.
