Four members of the Horne family fought world wars,
A. Horne
D. Horne
J. Horne
and E. Horne who was killed in WWII. Edwin James Godfrey Horne in military uniform standing by his father Ted Horne. Edwin was killed August 5th 1944 and is buried in the Bayeux War Cemetery. He was in the Welsh Guards 1st battalion. He took part in the DD landing, fought for Caen in Normandy but came up against the 9th SS Panzer Division. The Battalion suffered heavy losses there.
The front picture of Godfrey was taken July 1944, about a month before he died.
The photographs of May and Ted were taken from their passports long after they died.
