There was a very full program of events that took place throughout Bampton from Saturday June 2nd to Tuesday June 5th.

Lloyd Hughes Owens encouraged some of his past pupils who had left school to form the 'Old Bamptonians hockey team.

Jason Seacole of Henry Box School in Witney was integral in England School Boys winning all their matches in the season. England beat West Germany in the final of the eight nations schoolboys' international in Dortmund in May winning 4-2. Earlier in the tournament they beat France 6-1 and Jason scored a hat trick in the match.

Bampton's Primary School nursery class made use of the World Football Cup, held in Russia, to aid their learning. They learned where the countries who took part were on a map, they had food tasting specific to some of the countries

Bampton Meadows, a new housing development is to be built by Taylor Wimpey at the bottom of Mount Owen Road on the Aston side. Taylor Wimpey have agreed to pay £1.4 million on local amenities.

There was a knock out Competition, and displays by the Fire Brigade and the Morris Dancers. The Competition was won by the Jubilee Team who apparently had to wade through the muddy stream.

Newspaper article: A team from RAF Brize Norton called Horus 7 played Rugby for more than 24 hours in a bid to set a world record and raise money for charity. They took on the charity Scotty's Little Soldiers at Witney Rugby Club.
