A brief history of Weald Manor• An Academy for young gentlemen is mentioned in 1790• Followed by John Beechey's Mansion House Academy in 1815 which moved into Weald Manor in the 1820s and closed in the late 1850s.

Bampton's C of E Primary School and Nursery produced this delightful leaflet to explain what the school's aims are and how they achieve them. It talks of learning together with Respect, Friendship and Perseverance. The school is an Academy and part of The Oxford Diocesan Schools Trust (ODST) as well as being being in partnership with Burford School and 9 primary schools in the area.

This prospectus was created in October 2001 for Bampton C of E Primary School.
At this time, Julia Evans was the Headteacher and Rev. David Lloyd was the Chair of Governors.

The outbreak of Coronavirus in 2020 has caused devastation to the way of life all around the world. New restrictions and advice were being given daily by the Prime Minister Boris Johnson and two specialist advisers each day at 5pm from the week beginning Monday March 16th 2020.

It was announced during this week that all schools were to close but the pupils of key workers could still go to nominated schools to allow their parent to continue with his or her essential job. Also, pupils who would normally have free school meals would be able to go in order to have at least one square meal per day.

On Friday, the list of key workers was published and this article from the on-line Witney Gazette lists those key workers.

An instruction from the Archbishops of Canterbury and York this week said there would be no services until the risk of catching coronavirus has passed. Weddings can take place with a maximum of 5 people attending but that did not say if it was the bride and groom and the clergy plus two, or those 3 plus 5. Not helpful.

In 1989 Mr Geoffrey Fowler, then the County Councillor for Bampton Division of Oxford, began the process of trying to get the National School in Church View listed as a "building of architectural and historic interest.

These are two parts of one map created in 1914. I've picked them out to show where the school used to be in Lew, next to University Farm and the Post Office a little to the east just before you get to Trinity Church.

These three cuttings are all about a trip from Bampton school to Paris with 39 children. John Coombes (incorrect spelling under the photo in the cutting) was one of the school staff who went with the children.

This report on the Survey & Plan of Bampton was done under the guidance of M W Robinson FRICS MTPI in October 1966. It makes very interesting reading and the conclusions are as relevant today as they were then. The topics covered are 1. Population 2. Situation 3. Character 4. The people 5. Shopping 6. Principal road connections 7. Schools 8. Open spaces 9. Social facilities, Public Services etc 10. Surface water drainage 11. Sewage disposal 12. Water supply and much more. It makes a very interesting read particularly in the light of all the dwellings that have been built here since October 1966, all those being built now (Jan 2017) and those being proposed when considering the access into Bampton has not been improved yet in 1966 one of the conclusions states was that Bampton could not take further development, a by-pass was not possible and no further space for parking other than possibly in Church Street could be made.
