A brief history of Weald Manor• An Academy for young gentlemen is mentioned in 1790• Followed by John Beechey's Mansion House Academy in 1815 which moved into Weald Manor in the 1820s and closed in the late 1850s.

A carnival and fête, organised by the British Legion, held in the grounds of The Grange by kind invitation of Major and Mrs W.W.B. Scott. The event started at the Town Hall with the crowning of Carnival Queen, 16 year old Pamela Quick. Her attendants were Christine Neagle and Carole Edwards and a young Mathew Green was crown bearer. A very different type of exhibition in the Gallery in Bampton in January 2002 saw 100 boxes, each containing 100 pictures and a distinctive word or phrase from the year for people to brows through.

Under the guidance of Hilda Pickard, the Drama Group in Bampton put on many excellent plays and pantomimes in the WI Hall, now called the Village Hall. This entry recalls just of few of them.MirandaOn The Road

A group of printmakers came together to put on a really lovely display of their work in September 2006. Artists included

Bampton has had a long history of playing cricket and Anna Pitt put on a wonderful, well researched exhibition on the subject in January/February 2019.
