Scene of the horse fair in Bridge Street outside the Horse Shoe Inn and the butchers shop run by J Clark. It must have been taken well before 1925 because the Horse Shoe was gutted by fire that year and in 1925 it was owned by Percy Hughes who also had the butchers shop with his name over the door and on the east side of the building. Hurdles placed over the ground floor windows were to stop the horses from sticking their heads through the windows. Horses with a white spot on their rumps have been sold.

The Sunday before Bank Holiday Monday the Morris sides in Bampton have their last practice. In these photos the Bampton Traditional Morris side can be seen in the garden of the Horse Shoe, their headquarters at the time. People include Reg Hall on fiddle, Joe Perry accordion, Jamie Wheeler accordion, dancers John Shuker, Ray Borrett, Tony Daniels, Craig Godwin, Jonny Shuker, Andrew Lloyd, David Townsend, Billy Main plus Francis Shergold with pint and white stick.

These two pictures were taken in the Horse Shoe, licencee Alan Clarke, probably in 1999. Ted Poole is in one picture but the other one shows fun had with pictures and captions.

These pictures taken at the May Bank Holiday 2004 by Bob West were mostly at the Horse Shoe Inn and the last few at the home of Dave and Liz Rose.

The Bampton Traditional Morris Men nearly always held their annual Morris Party in the Village Hall. These are pictures of their party and a session in the Horse Shoe. Photos by Bob West
