This is the program for a play put on by the Bampton Dramatic Society March 10th, 11th and 12th 1937. The play was called 'Barnet's Folly' by Jan Stewer. It was put on in the W. I. Hall (which is now called the Village Hall.)
The White family lived in Sandford Cottage, the thatched cottage on the south side of Sandford field from at least as early as 1900. These photographs cover the period 1910 to 1960. They are all family related, some babies, children, adults.
Ted Dixey was known to most Bamptonians as a bellringer and Morris dancer. These are photograph of his maternal grandparents, his sister and husband Robert Ferguson, of Ted himself and his fiance of 40 years, Sylvia.
Esther Hepworth grew up in Bampton as did her parents and grandparents. Esther was an Extra in Downton Abbey and she commented that dressed as an older lady, she felt she was walking in the footsteps of her great-grandmother
Downton Abbey was being filmed in Bampton again in April 2014. Most of the actors are very obliging, willing talking with the younger generation and several Bampton people are extras.
