Archaeological Dig at RAF Brize Norton

Newspaper Cutting about a dig on the Brize Norton Airfield which has uncovered several different types of aircraft bits from 45 German aircraft captured by the Allies in 1945 and taken to the base for testing, and USA aircraft from the time that the USAF were based at Brize in 1950's. These will be displayed at the RAF Brize Norton Heritage Centre

Article in Witney Gazette about development plans being halted because there is a possibility that the Medieval Ruins of the D'Oyley Family home are on the Site. Situated in Moonraker Lane, it was proposed to demolish Folly House and CBL Electric Vehicles Yard and build some retirement homes. Oxford Archaeological Unit, and Dr John Blair, Historian at Queens College Oxford identified the historic importance of this site.

Ham Court along with the barns and outbuildings plus 22 acres was put up for sale by Jesus College Oxford in 2010 and was bought by Emma Bridgewater. This is the sales brochure and I'm sorry to say the scanned versions given to me clearly had something wrong with the colour but the text is perfect. The diagrams of the first and second floor are very interesting. See also entry 2017.529
