The map shows the area from the allotments north of Bampton down through the centre of Bampton to Primrose Cottages and East as far as the first cottages on the western side of Aston.
It is interesting that there are references to Council Houses along New Road but none were there in 1921; it is in heavier ink than the original map so I think this old map was simply used to show where council houses had subsequently been built.
There is also a line showing a sewer but again, in 1921 we had no mains sewerage, in fact we didn't get that until the 1950s. Up until then, Horace Morse used to collect the 'night soil' with his horse and cart twice a week and it was spread over the fields of any farmers who agreed to have it.
Bushey House on the corner of Bushey Row and New Road is also in dark ink and that house did not exist in 1921.
There are interesting notes written on in pencil regarding the sale of a field to Mr Read on the west side of Buckland Road in 1950 and another field to Mr Saunders just across the Buckland Road.
The map belonged to Habgood and Mamatt and I think they added the various bits of post 1921 information.
The second map is the same area and date but without the later additions
