This is a group of wonderful ladies, all members of the Mother's Union. The picture was taken about 1990 by Margaret Chaundy who was also a member.
People in the picture include

Miss Mary Farmer who taught about 3 generations of Bampton children
Mrs Eva Deacon whose son owned and ran The Poachers rest in the Market Square
Molly King
Mrs Vera Elward who also taught more than one generation of Bampton children
Mrs Rose Gerring, a president of the WI
Mrs Helen Groves
Mrs Ward
Mrs Lyla Lawton Smith a member of the Smiths Blanket family. Don Rouse said "I had many hours with her as part of the Oxford- Leiden Twinning. A keen WI worker as well as a Nurse and lived in Bampton for about 20 years.
