Scope and content

Early March 2011 a section of wall fell in Church Close and wrecked two cars parked next to it. The plot of land behind was owned by Boggis Rolfe; it was a long time before he got it mended and in the end it was done and he sold the plot to the owners of Kilmore House next to it. Scenes of Downton Abbey were filmed before it was repaired and Carnival Films created a wonderful artificial wall made of a material light enough for two men to pick up and move which you can see in the last two photographs. They cleverly made double gates across the huge gap in the wall.
