Many people in Bampton have to drive down the A40 to Oxford each morning and the slow traffic is so bad, it's impossible to know how long it will take to get into or past Oxford. Morning appointments at the Oxford hospitals are also a nightmare. A New park-and-ride at Eynsham and a bus lane into Oxford are the centrepiece of a proposed £38m transport improvement unveiled for the A40.
In a bid to tackle rush-hour congestion, Oxfordshire County Council has also proposed junction improvements at Eynsham and Cassington, as well as a bus priority lane from Eynsham to Swinford Toll Bridge.
Witney Gazette May 2016
The previous proposals above have not taken place and a new and more expensive solution has been proposed costing £54m
By March 2020 absolutely nothing has been done to easy the congestion and there are thousands more houses to be built in West Oxfordshire.
