The Bampton ring sold for £10,000 at auction today, November 26th 2018. Engraved with an elaborate coat of arms featuring a chevron decorated with small dots between three birds' heads, the ring dates to between the late 1500s and early 1700s. Discovered by Paul Wood, 64, a driving instructor from Poole, Dorset, in August 2016 on land earmarked for housing near Witney, it is believed to represent the Skynner family who lived in the area from the 13th Century.
