Scope and content

Before the days of TV in Bampton, the well to do members of the community used to put on plays and musical evenings for people to enjoy and they were also the performers. This play was written by Margaret Nettlefold who lived at Bampton Manor. Sadly, there is no date anywhere on the booklet of the play or the program which shows it as part of an evening's entertainment. Mrs Nettlefold was still living in Bampton Manor in 1935. Looking at the program, the WI choir took part in the evening's entertainment along with many players for Mrs Nettlefold's play and 'Joan The Maid' and Warren Green played the piano. Warren was the organist at St Mary's for many years.
