Scope and content

These two photographs give an excellent idea of what Bampton looked like in the early 1950s. Since this picture was taken the following have been built:- The Pieces, Pococks Close, the west side of Bushey Row, the north side of Bowling Green Close, all Colvile Close and Chandler Close, the school in Bowling Green Close, The Lanes, Glebelands, all the houses off New Road beyond Fox Close, Pembroke Place, Shrewsbury Place and other smaller builds. The track for our cycle speedway team The Bampton Bullets is clear as is the cycle shed in front of the National School in Church View. All well worth a close look.
