East meets West in a different sense at the Gallery in Bampton Town Hall from November 1st 1997. It's the title of the exhibition featuring the work of Oxford based painter Neil Drury

West Oxfordshire Arts Association organised three workshops.

The Oxford Arts society exhibited in the Town Hall Gallery because their usual exhibition space in the Westgate Library was no longer available to them.

In April 1997 Peter Ross was awarded first prize of £500 donated by Burford Garden Centre for his portrait of the poet W.H. Auden in the spring painting competition.

Sculptor Pat Elmore's students held an exhibition in the West Ox Arts gallery and in the picture beginners Adrian Williams and Sally Proctor are seen trying their hand with Pat's guidance.The cutting is from the Faringdon Folly April 1997.

Sally Proctor and Denise Davies are seen looking at some of the exhibitions in the January 1997 exhibition in the West Oxfordshire Arts Gallery. All the pieces on display are inspired by the members' travels around the world.

In November 1996 West Oxfordshire Arts held a workshop for children on the theme of Guy Fawkes called Sparklers, Rockets and Bangers.The centre's administrator Sally Proctor led the workshop along with Martin Bishop, Margaret Bishop and Clair Hughes-Jones.

Kathy Scott from the Oxford Times talked with Ann Manly and her husband Dennis Harrison about their art works. They both love painting outside and despite Ann's failing eyesight caused by diabetes, she kept painting.
