This photograph was kindly sent to the Archive by Graham Rose. His father, Bernard, took the picture in 1994 when the Bampton Traditional Morris Men were dancing on their lawn at Bampton House. Francis Shergold was squire of the side in 1994.
Thanks to Jamie Wheeler for providing the following names.

"Spring Bank Holiday Monday. I arrived at New Road at about 8.25 a.m. Dancers in the Shergold side were as at the practise of the previous lunchtime, plus Craig Godwin, Bill Daniels' two Townsend grandsons [I seem to remember that Frank Godwin was also out in kit for at least a portion of the day. KC.]. Musicians were Jamie Wheeler (G/D melodeon), Reg Hall (only seen playing the fiddle by me this day), and Rod Stradling (G/D melodeon). Roy Shergold was fool (although both Ray Borrett and George Blackwell took over at various times during the afternoon). I did not see Francis dance at all; and in fact he now gets about with the aid of a white stick, and has to peer very closely into a face to recognise to whom he is speaking.
Terry Rouse told me I should record why he was not dancing: he had a quadruple bypass operation earlier in the year. He gets about alright, but one dance takes it all out of him."
