August 2015 Vera Elwards goes in a microlight to raise funds for the church organ fund

August 2015, 92 year-old Vera Elward took a sponsored microflight to raise money for the church organ fund. When she was 95 years old she raised more money by flying a glider for an hour. She also wrote a poetry book to add to her money -raising efforts. In total she raised about £4000 towards the renovation of the church organ.

Percy Bowerman, Chauffeur for Mrs Bliss

Mrs Bliss, widow of Colonel Bliss, spent her remaing days at Bampton House. Percy Bowerman was her chauffeur and would drive her around the village in her green Morris Minor. When she died, Percy inherited the Morris Minor.

Tree Planting in Memory of John Quick

Together with Paul Bovington, John Quick founded SPAJERS in 1953 as a 'one-off event ' to celebrate the Queen's coronation. Following the passing of John, a flowering cherry tree was planted in his memory in the grounds of the War Memorial. In the photos can be seen Edie, John's widow, together with his son Kenny. Also representing the SPAJERS are Don Rouse and Frank Hudson.
