These pictures, all taken by John Grout, record the brief moment in time where the Market Square Garage was totally removed and before Thornberry Flats were built on the site. Bell Cottage, the little thatched house is clearly visible.
To the right of Cromwell House as seen from the road is The Old Forge, which was as its name suggests the site of a forge at one time but is now a private house, partly in Cheapside and partly in Church Street.

The George and Dragon while still a pub and Quebec Cottage when it wasn't hidden by trees. It's now almost impossible to see the cottage in the summer when the leaves are on the trees.
