Harry Pocock lived at No2 Broad Street and was the person who went around the farms in Bampton and out as far as a farm in Thrupp by Oxford to thrash the corn on farms before the days of the combine harvester.
Sub Officer Arthur H Beckley joined the NFS as a fireman at Bampton in 1946 and was officer in charge from 1960. I think this cutting is from a local paper approximately 1973. Arthur was awarded the BEM for his outstanding service
Whistle-blowers at the ambulance service, which covers West Oxfordshire have warned lives are being put at risk because of staff shortages.
