This is a picture postcard of Bampton Football team in the 1906/7 season. The card has been sent to Miss K Phillips in Stanton Harcourt from Bampton on May 13th 1907.
These photographs are very likely to have been taken in 1913. The fiddler dancing a jig to his own playing is William Nathan Wells, better known as Jingy.

Robin Shuckburgh, chairman of the Bampton Community Archive, explains that many coaches a week are coming with tourists keen to see where the outside scenes of Downton Abbey are filmed.
Downton Abbey was being filmed in Bampton again in April 2014. Most of the actors are very obliging, willing talking with the younger generation and several Bampton people are extras.

In 1983 Terry Crowley began taking photographs of people in Bampton who worked here, or were born here, or worked for charities here or any combination.
A large section of wall in Church Close fell and badly damaged at least two vehicles. The wall was eventually repaired and a new opening created where a gateway was made.
In October 2016 a Triptych made by the Summertown United Reformed Church was lent to St Mary's. It illustrates all the books of the bible. There was no cost for this, just a request for photographs of people looking at the Triptych.
