The Friends of St Mary's have recently been arranging a series of 3 talks, one in Feb, March and April to raise funds for the church. This poster was for the Feb 2018 talk entitled "The Graveyard Shift: surgery and body snatching at Guy's Hospital in the 19th century." The talk was given by Professor Roger Jones.
When the Wenrisc ward was closed in 2015 there was great concern locally that it may be permanent despite being told it was for refurbishment. It was with relief that it was reopened a year later.
Vera Elward was 92 when she flew in a microlight to help raise funds for the restoration and enhancement of the organ in Saint Mary The Virgin Church in Bampton. Vera always gave much of her time and love for the church. She ran the Sunday school for about 20 years and would gather the children from their houses as she walked to the Sunday School class. She died peacefully at home on April 9th 2020

In December 2014, pupils from Bampton Primary School and the Ladybird Nursery planted trees to commemorate the 40th year of the Tree Council's National Tree Week. In the picture are Lisa Lane with three year olds Ethan Walsh and Nala Hunt. The head teacher, Carol Phillips was delighted to take part and bring to children's awareness sustainability and ecological environments.
n November 2015 eight products, including Patrick Strainge's Bampton Royal sausages were nominated for the Q Guild Smithfield Awards. Only 200 butchers in England can hold a Q guild aware at any one time so it really is a feather in the cap of our local butchers shop. The Bampton Royal sausages were also a firm favourite with many members of the cast of Downton Abbey which was partly filmed in Bampton.
Campaigners have condemned the xo-called 'no win no fee' policy of a developer behind plans for more than 700 homes on sites across Oxfordshire. 446 are planned for sites in West Oxfordshire. Sites are in Witney and Bampton.

Originally called the Bampton Charity Shop, it had a name change and a legal status changed to enable it to donate monies to other charities in Bampton. Apparently a charity cannot give money to another charity and Trevor Milne-Day gave his time to deal with the legal matter of the change.
