Bampton celebrated the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II over 4 days at the beginning of June 2012. These are a few of the reports of some of the events which took place.
Newspaper Cutting reporting on the Annual Fete held in the Old School Playing Field (Sandfords Field) Bampton in 1973. There was a knock out Competition, and displays by the Fire Brigade and the Morris Dancers. The Competition was won by the Jubilee Team who apparently had to wade through the muddy stream.
Newspaper article: A team from RAF Brize Norton called Horus 7 played Rugby for more than 24 hours in a bid to set a world record and raise money for charity. They took on the charity Scotty's Little Soldiers at Witney Rugby Club.
Bampton has had a long history of playing cricket and Anna Pitt put on a wonderful, well researched exhibition on the subject in January/February 2019. This newspaper cutting is about the Shirt Race and the Morris Dancing in Bampton at the late May Bank Holiday in 1983. Ian Baker 6 and Ivan Lomas 8 won the fancy dress aspect of the Junior Shirt Race.
