This is the funeral program from the church service for Constance Irene de Hamel. Constance did many things but is possibly best known for being a continuity announcer during WWII.
On a bitterly cold day on March 29th 2015 scenes were recorded for Downton Abbey. These are delightful casual shots of the actors both well known and supporting cast.
Dr Alan Gaydon was a churchwarden at St Mary's for several years. He photographed the church from inside to out, ground level to the roof and recorded the restoration of the top of the spire and re-guilding of the cockerel on the top.
Captain Charles Radclyffe LVO died peacefully after a short illness on February 1st 2017. The eulogy given by his son-in-law Bill included in this entry gives a wonderfully full account of his life and another one by Don Rouse
David and Sarah Jane New invite the choir of St Mary's to a BBQ at their farm each year. David is organist and choirmaster at St Mary's. We had a lovely BBQ but had to beat a hasty retreat to the barn when the heavens opened.
There is a lovely tree behind Patrick Strainge butchers which is being kept clipped to have a rounded surface and this shows the men on a type of cherry picker trimming it.
The Community Church Council has embarked on an ambitious programme to completely rebuild and extend the 1812 Gray and Davison organ which has been inside St Mary's Church since the 1850s.
