Newspaper cutting about the Flower Garland tradition in Bampton at Whitsuntide. The garlands were judged by Mrs Iris Humphries and Mr Melbourne Tomlins; the winners were Leslie Taylor and Mathew Green, runners up Esther Green and Sandra Taylor, third were Winifred Harrison and Gwyneth Quick. All entrants were given a bar of chocolate kindly donated by Reg Pratley of the Jubilee Inn.
130 - Newspaper cutting about the Flower Garland tradition in Bampton at Whitsuntide. The garlands were judged by Mrs Bamber, Mrs Hampden, Mrs Humphries, Major Bamber of the 3rd squadron 14th Signals Regiment and Mr F Lovett. Boxes of chocolates were given to the winners and all the competitors were given a bar of chocolate sponsored by Reg Pratley landlord of the Jubilee Inn. June 3rd 1968.

138 - 1969 or 1970. Ray and Harry Green making a swimming pool at what is now No4 Town House at the east end of the Market Square. This was once a shop and one owner was a Mrs Clark whose husband worked across the road helping in the shoemaker's shop.
146 - Esther Green dressed as a Rose for some competition, aged three and a half, August 1960. Esther can't recall what the event was.
149 - 1965 Carnival with a whole group of children in their fancy dress. Mrs Clark's shop, now No4 Town House is still open and the sun blind is pulled down on the shop that was 'Kings of Bampton' and earlier in the c20th Busby's. Sue Taylor is a Dalek, Leslie Taylor is selling ice cream in 'Stop Me and Buy One,' 150 - 1967 carnival. Esther Green as a Morris Dancer, Sue Taylor as a Black & White Minstrel, Leslie Taylor as Little Bo Peep. There are other children dressed up in the picture.
151 - 1965 and Esther Green is dressed up as the racing driver Jim Clark and she's sitting in a wonderful homemade racing car.

Among the children are Lyn Beckley, Esther Green, Mathew Green, the three daughters of Dr Cole, Anne Jackson and Annabel.
154 - 1966. Mrs Hilda Pickard from Knapps Farmhouse used to put on many plays. This one had a group of little girls. 3rd from the right is Esther Green. 4th from right is Sue Taylor. Gale Wheeler is on the extreme left. Lorraine Barton is on the extreme right.

048 A new, purpose-built building was built in Manor View Road and this invitation was to Leading Fireman Ray Green and his daughter Esther to attend the official opening on Tuesday 13th July 1971. While the invitation says 'New Road', this is not strictly correct because from where the road leaves Broad Street until it reaches the turning for Bushey Row, it is Manor View (leading to New Road). 1a. 102 - newspaper cutting, opening of the new fire station 1971 by Alderman Howland, ribbon being held taut by Timothy White, Chief Fire Officer of Oxfordshire. Father James Edward Green who was a stone mason, mother Elizabeth Green formerly Fox. 084 Invoice from R Tucker & Sons, Faringdon to Mr Lardner issued February 4th 1920 for their daughter's bridal bouquet cost 10/6 (55p), 2 bridesmaids' bouquets cost 14/- (70p) and 3 buttonholes cost 1/6 (15p). Total cost £1.5s (£1 25p). 086 September 12th 1952. Discharge Service Soldier from Whole Time Military Service for Ramon James Green. Civilian and service trade was a bricklayer. "Saper Green has considerable character and has shown ability and initiative. Though normally a quiet chap he is popular and cheerful. He is reliable, trustworthy and honest."

She'd put her back legs on his thighs and front feet on the crossbar when he went off on his bicycle. Leslie Green married Mary Norton who had 3 sons, Michael, Graham and Stuart also a daughter Jenifer who left Bampton in 1963 and moved to Dunstable in Bedfordshire.
