In the past two weeks, more than 60 explicit adverts have been posted on the buying and selling site Craigslist by women and men in Oxfordshire ‘looking to have some fun’ and ‘desperately trying to make some extra money’. An investigation by the Oxford Mail can now reveal the seedy ‘underworld’ of the county still ticking during coronavirus lockdown.

Arthur started the timber business in Brize Norton selling second hand timber from Brize Norton air force base when it was run by the Americans. Miss Margaret Oates was the eldest daughter of Dr and Mrs Oates. She was a founder member of the Bampton Women's Institute, took a keen interest in folk dancing and was a pioneer of the Bampton Folk Dance Society. Miss Dorothy Oates died aged 80 on March 24th the same day as Miss Brooks who had been companion to Dorothy and her sister Margaret. Dorothy was a member of the Women's Institute. The funeral of Miss Oates and Miss Brooks took place on the same day Thursday March 27th at St Mary's in Bampton, service conducted by Rev. Article by reporter Erin Lyons dated 1st May 2020 about ‘False negative’ fears at Oxford's coronavirus testing site:- Thornhill Park and Ride. Oxford’s ‘shambolic’ coronavirus drive-through testing site could lead to false negatives for key workers. Concerns have been raised over a lack of medical staff on site to administer throat and nasal swab tests at the Thornhill Park and Ride facility, which opened fully on Saturday. Serco, which ran the site for the Department of Health and Social Care and undertook testing, defended the facility.
Email dated 4th May 2020, From Rev. Canon Janice Collier, vicar of Bampton, Clanfield, Aston, Lew and Shifford to her parishioners . During the pandemic, the parishioners gathered each Sunday at 10.30am to worship on Zoom, and she informed them that mischief makers had high-jacked the events.
Newspaper article by reporter Erin Lyons dated 4th may 2020 urging KEY workers, NHS and social care staff to get tested for Covid-19. Testing was initially extended in England to all essential workers and members of their household if they have symptoms.
Article written by David Lynch, Local Democracy Reporter, dated 4th may 2020 about the increase in FLY tipping under the lockdown in Oxford, as tips have been closed to prevent non-essential journeys. When the coronavirus lockdown began on March 23, all waste and recycling centres across the UK were closed to the public, as dumping bulky rubbish was not considered an essential journey. In some areas, including parts of Oxfordshire, councils also stopped running special bulky waste collections because members of staff were off sick with the coronavirus.
