The doctors at Bampton surgery in 1984. Dr Robert Landray from Grange Cottage did much to help WOAA (West Oxfordshire Arts Association). Dr Matthew Perry lived in Queen Street, was a youth club organiser. Dr Mackenzie, lived in Carterton. Dr Alan Cole lived in Landells and helped with W.O.F.C.

Mrs Freda Bradley from Colvile Close was a postwoman for many years, she was a housekeeper and occasional barmaid and did much with the Pumpkin Club.

Mary and Dorothy Basson from New Road. Both worked in the International Stores (which before it was International was Eeles & Son, afterwards it was Londis, then Budgens and now – 2018 – Coop). Both were born in Bampton.

Edward ‘Ted’ Lee from Oathurst Estate was a bellringer and helped with meals on wheels. Joyce Lee was a president of the WI, helped with Meals on Wheels and was a member of the Mothers’ Union.
