Scope and content

Witney Gazette March 19th 2014. Homes get the go-ahead in spite of a vigorous campaign against them by locals. The council's deputy leader, Mark Booty who lives in Bampton suggested a compromise ie 60 homes built in 2017, 50 homes in 2019 and 50 homes in 2023. If any problem with flooding, the surgery, sewerage etc crops up because of the expansion then that problem or problems must be sorted out before the next phase can be built.
This was agreed by the councillors but the builders got it over-turned on appeal and the 160 houses where built in one go. Several years later footpaths were still not all completed yet people had been living on the estate built by Cala Homes.
